Ultra Music Festival is an annual outdoor electronic music festival that takes place during March in Miami, Florida, United States. It was first held on Miami Beach, but besides a tenure at Bicentennial Park, it had primarily been held at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami. It was a one-day festival from 1999 to 2006. In 2019, the festival moved to the Virginia Key Beach Park and Miami Marine Stadium.
Since 2011, Ultra has taken place across three days. In 2012, a record attendance of 155,000 people attended the festival. In 2013, the festival took place across two consecutive weekends to celebrate its 15th anniversary, with a combined attendance of 330,000 people. In 2014, the festival returned to its original single-weekend format, selling out pre-sale tickets in under five minutes.
Alongside the flagship event in Miami, Ultra has spawned a larger series of international franchises under the blanket branding Ultra Worldwide, which have included locations such as Ultra South Africa, Ultra South Korea, Ultra Singapore, Ultra Mexico, Ultra Brazil, Ultra Colombia, and others.
The following 3 hour video below is our recordings from Ultra Music Festival 2004 as we were one of the only people aloud inside the grounds with our Ford Excursion Truck and a video camera along with our lasers.
In the year 2000 for Ultra #2, we came in together with Mtv AMP who was Ultra's first major corporate & TV sponsor. Mtv AMP was the first TV show in the USA to play all Electronic Dance Music. The city of Miami estimated that since 2012, Ultra has "generated approximately $995 million of economic impact", with $168 million in 2018 alone. At that time we were called P.A.W.N. LASERS, and as you can see we are referenced 3 times on the main flyer. The poster size is 24 x 18 inches.
This was the last year the event was held on the beach. We had to dig a trench in the sand for several hundred feet to bury our water lines to cool the lasers on stage which ran to a water source at a near by hotel. We returned again in 2002 for Ultra #4 and again in 2004 for Ultra #6.
